This increase of 16,5% compared to the same period in 2005 shows once again the popularity of Austrian goods throughout the world.
Way ahead of the rest of the world is the Middle East, with Austrian exports to the UAE alone rising by an impressive 44,4% from January to March to reach 81,73 Mio. EUR in only 3 months.
Among the top products were (mechanical) machinery products (worth 14,52 Mio. EUR), trucks and cars (10,47 Mio. EUR) and iron and steel products (9,52 Mio. EUR). Glass and glassware (7,57 Mio. Imports from the UAE to Austria registered an even more impressive increase. A PLUS of 634% marked the highest level ever and is due to aluminium imports worth 8,41 Mio. EUR bringing the number of total imports from the UAE to 16,93 Mio. EUR in just the first 3 months of 2006.
