First 9 months of 2006 show 50% increase

Austria's export industry is set for another record year with exports growing by 12.3% in the first 3 quarters of 2006.
The United Arab Emirates were among the top gainers in this period once again with an increase of 50.1% from January to September 2006.
Products especially popular this year tend to be in the group of (mechanical) machinery products (worth 63,6 Mio. EUR), trucks and cars (30,3 Mio. EUR) and iron and steel products (28,3 Mio. EUR). Glass and glassware (24,1 Mio. EUR) and especially electrical machinery (38,5 Mio. EUR) were also on the rise as well as timber (13,6 Mio. EUR) and drinks (8,6 Mio. EUR).
Imports from the UAE to Austria registered an even more impressive increase. A PLUS of 363% marked the highest level ever and is due to aluminium imports worth 21,3 Mio. EUR bringing the number of total imports from the UAE to 43,8 Mio. EUR in the first 9 months of 2006.
