Leier to open Europe's most cutting-edge brick plant in Slovakia
No sign of the crisis - family-run company Leier from Burgenland is expanding in eastern Europe and is on course this year to achieve the third best result in the company’s history.
160 million bricks - for around 7000 buildings - will be produced each year in Europe’s most cutting-edge brick plant in Petrovany, in the east of Slovakia. The EUR 30-million investment will come from construction material producer Leier. The new plant is mainly focused on the export market, above all to the Ukraine, Poland and Romania.
Leier Baustoffe-Holding GmbH , a family-run company originating from Horitschon, Burgenland, has been active in eastern Europe since 1985: the company first expanded to Hungary, followed by Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Croatia. Leier has a total of 34 branch offices in eastern Europe. The first half of 2009 saw the group generate revenue of EUR 85 million and Leier predicts that this year will bring the third best year-end results in the company’s history.
