Crane manufacturer Künz on course for record year
Crane manufacturer Künz from Vorarlberg on target for excellent annual results despite global crisis, thanks to multiple large-scale orders.
From Vorarlberg via Styria to the USA and China - this is the success story of Künz , a crane manufacturer from Vorarlberg, in the turbulent year of 2009. Large-scale orders in these three destinations, amounting to a total of EUR 43 million, ensure that the company will chalk up a record year. Künz is involved in Styria with hydraulic steel construction at two Mur power plants; five gantry cranes are being delivered to the USA, while so-called tankhouse cranes are on their way to China.
The mechanical and plant engineering manufacturer was founded in 1932. The company originally specialised in producing tower cranes, is now an expert in the fields of container crane construction and hydraulic steel construction. Künz today represents the oldest and most successful enterprise in the Vorarlberg mechanical manufacturing industry. 290 staff work at the firm’s three sites - two of which are found in Austria, one in Slovakia. Exports account for 80% and the annual revenue for 2009 is expected to exceed EUR 70 million.
