The Austrian firm is already the global market leader in fruit preparations. The company is now investing over EUR 27 million in expanding its production capacity in Russia.

The Austrian sugar, starch and fruit company AGRANA refines agricultural raw materials into an array of products for the processing industry. The range of products stretches from sugar for food and drinks, starches for textiles and technical applications, bio ethanol as a sustainable, environmentally friendly fuel, through to fruit preparations and concentrates for fruit juices. The Group operates 52 production sites worldwide.

AGRANA is one of Europe’s leading producers of fruit juice concentrates and the global market leader for fruit preparations for the dairy industry: one in three fruit yoghurts contains products from this Austrian company. For the financial year 2010/11 AGRANA predicts revenue growth of 5.5% to EUR 2.1 billion. The fruit and starch segments are experiencing particularly rapid growth.

AGRANA has been pursuing a sustainable growth strategy spanning five continents for many years. The company wants to expand on the Russian market and benefit from the sharp increase in the consumption of dairy products. The next 5 years will see around EUR 27.6 million invested in expanding the fruit preparation plant in Serpuchov, around 100km to the south of Moscow. The company currently holds around 48% of market share in the regional fruit preparation market, which includes other CIS countries in addition to Russia and caters to around 217 million consumers.
