The innovations in medical equipment from this specialist from Austria not only set new standards; the company itself is also enjoying record success.

Over the last 40 years Austrian firm Wild Group has developed from a manufacturer of precision components into a systems supplier and strategic partner for optomechatronic systems and technical medical equipment. International clients have come to greatly value the unique expertise of this Carinthian-based company.

In 2010 the group, with over 300 employees, generated revenue of around EUR 61 million (+14%), making it the best ever year in the firm’s history. Investment of EUR 3.2 million is being used to increase capacity at the four production sites, underlining the success of the strategy of this specialist in medical and optical technology. Bestsellers include products for ophthalmology, prosthetics, equipment for blood testing and swivel arms for surgical microscopes. Wild hopes to increase revenue to EUR 100 million by 2015.

The internationalisation of Wild is also progressing rapidly, with exports currently accounting for 80%. The main target countries are Germany and Switzerland. The company has now got a foothold on the Italian market and is planning its market entry into Great Britain. Possible entry into the USA is being evaluated and last year the Austrians got their first US customers with the Christie Medical Group. Wild got the innovative “Vein Viewer” ready for series production for the Americans within just three months. The infrared lighting system is composed of a camera and beamer and shows the flow through the veins in real time. This equipment is used all over the world.
