Austrians in the centre of the global IT industry
Silicon Valley – home to industry giants such as Google, Facebook, HP and Yahoo – is also a magnet for Austrian IT firms. The success of the "Go Silicon Valley" technology initiative has led the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to continue it in 2012. After all, Austria has huge potential with its innovative companies.
The participants from Austria were selected by a US jury, who praised the high quality of the projects submitted. Following a preparation seminar in March, the first companies are currently in California, namely econob (in German) , MuTracs (a spin-off of TipChip Gaming Technologies GmbH) and Spectralmind .
"Go Silicon Valley" is part of the go-international export initiative run by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth. It allows small and medium Austrian IT companies to break into the US market and access risk capital. Up to 20 companies have the opportunity to complete a 3-month programme using the Business Accelerator Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale to kick start their businesses.
