SKIDATA gets Brazil ready for large-scale events

16 December 2012

Ahead of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, Austrian firm SKIDATA has won the order for the access system to the gigantic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

SKIDATA AG managed to break into the premier league of sports-facility suppliers in 2006; since then the company from Grödig near Salzburg has provided access systems for multiple championship football stadiums.

Now one of the world’s largest stadiums (capacity almost 100,000) is joining SKIDATA’s long list of references: the enormous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The stadium is currently being completely redeveloped for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games and will have turnstiles from SKIDATA installed.

SKIDATA is not only one of the world’s leading solutions providers for managing visitors, access technology and ticketing, business is also booming in the parking management sector. They are currently upgrading the parking system at Dallas airport – one of the largest in the world – with 40,000 parking spaces.

SKIDATA is represented at over 40 locations, employs around 650 staff and generated revenue of EUR 170 million in 2011.
