Austrian caterer DoNA opens largest catering kitchen in Teheran
DoN, in the framework of a joint venture with the Iranian businessman Mohammad Khalaffi, is now supplying hungry train passengers with food and drinks in Iran. The name of the joint venture is DoNA, and it is now operating a large-scale catering kitchen close to the main station in Tehran.
An investment of about four million euro was made to build the high-tech facility. On an area of 6.000 square meters up to 6.000 meals for train passengers can be prepared per day. The Austrians are the first western catering company entering the Iranian market. Already during the last year the joint venture started to supply the trains traveling on the 700 kilometers long track between Teheran and Mashhad
“The potential is enormous”, says the Austrian businessman Josef Donhauser and further advises, “in every line of business you should look for a competent and renowned local partner”.
After the entrance to the market the company already prepares for expansion: Currently about 120 people work for DoNA. In the medium term an increase to about 500 employees is planned, so that even more trains can be serviced. At the moment DoNA’s main costumer is the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, however, the goal is to supply all eight private train companies in Iran. That way the sales volume could reach up to 100 million euros.
