Albania Moves Up 13 spots in Global Competitiveness Index

Albania has moved up 13 spots in the recent Global Competitiveness Report 2016- 2017 released by World Economic Forum,  ranking 80th with a score of 4.1 points among 138 economies. Albania ranks after Macedonia but is outranked by Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Greece. The report shows that Albania has made progress in several indices.

The report ranks Albania first among 30 assessed economies for the second phase of "efficacy enhancers." Albania has also made a significant improvement in "basic requirements" sub-index which analyzes institutions, infrastructure, macro-economic environment, health and primary education. It has also improved in "Innovation and sophistication" sub-index where Albania ranks 106th advancing 9 spots in comparison to the 2015-2016 report.
