Albania & Kosovo Chambers of Commerce set up joint business co-operation office

16. January 2017

The business offices will operate at the two respective commerce chambers starting this week.

The Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (KCC) agreed Friday to set up a joint business co-operation office to assist entrepreneurs from both countries in addressing their doing business problems. The agreement was announced during a joint press conference of the head of the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nikolin Jaka and his Kosovo counterpart Safet Gerxhaliu. The business offices will operate at the two respective commerce chambers starting this week.

During their earlier meeting, Jaka and Gerxhaliu focused on problems affecting business operators in both countries. Malfunctioning of customs practices that provide for quicker movement of goods between the two countries, a significant fall in exchanges between Albania and Kosovo leaving room for other countries to fill the trade vacuum, lack of concrete plans of co-operation between the governments of both countries, a climate of distrust between the two sides - these were some of the problems presented Jaka and Gërxhaliu. The two interlocutors also tabled concrete proposals to solve these problems.
