Trilateral meeting on Trans-Adriatic Pipeline natural gas project held in Tirana

Minister of Energy Damian Gjiknuri praised the progress of the project for the pipeline construction so far, describing it as a key strategic project for the gas infrastructure in the region.

Representatives of Albanian, Italian, and Greek Governments met yesterday in the Ministry of Energy and Industry premises in the framework of the agreement on the progress of the Trans-Atlantic Pipeline (TAP) natural gas project. The meeting was attended by TAP representatives as well.

Minister of Energy Damian Gjiknuri praised the progress of the project for the pipeline construction so far, describing it as a key strategic project for the gas infrastructure in the region. He said that the construction work was going according to plan in all countries where the pipeline is expected to pass. Gjiknuri said that Albania was taking all the necessary actions to become not only a transit, but also a consumer country of natural gas. The representatives of the three countries exchanged their opinions and assessments and the meeting focused on co-ordination among parties on technical, social, safety, environmental, community, and work conditions.

In related news, according to reports, the Albanian government is expected to hire a consulting company to maximise the country’s benefits and profits from the implementation of the natural gas project.
