ALBANIA AND AUSTRIA SIGN AGREEMENT ON DIGITALIZATION OF CITIZEN REGISTRY

Albanian Deputy Interior Minister Ferdinand Poni and Austrian Civil Registry Office General Director Helmut Prugger signed an agreement on the implementation of the project on digitalization of the registry of Albanian citizens at the seat of the Interior Ministry in Tirana on Wednesday.
The implementation of the project, which is worth 1.3 million euros, envisages also operational support for a period of two years.

Following the signing of the agreement, Deputy Minister Poni said: "Implementation of the project is a step towards entry of Albania into the digital era, a greater guarantee for the correct compilation of the electoral register and it also constitutes a safe basis for the production of the electronic ID papers and biometric passports."

Whereas Prugger said that implementation of the project could serve as a good basis for all electronic projects of the Albanian government. He promised the maximal commitment of the Austrian side to successful realization of the aforesaid project in Albania.

In attendance of the ceremony of signing of the agreement were also the Minister of Interior Bujar Nishani and Austrian Ambassador in Tirana Klaus Derkowitsch.
