Doctors' Services, Pharmacies

Doctors and pharmacies are widely available across the whole of Austria.
Pharmacies have rotating Sunday and evening opening hours, with closed pharmacies displaying the contact details of the nearest open pharmacy.

Information about local surgery opening times is available from the local police station, the telephone directory and daily newspapers.

Health Insurance

Citizens insured in the EEC (EU, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway) and Switzerland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Croatia and Macedonia can receive the same emergency medical treatment as citizens insured in Austria. This is dependant on a holiday health insurance certificate issued before arrival in Austria. Austria boasts a wide range of health resorts and spas which are all legally accredited and recognized. There is such a variety of treatments on offer that almost every health problem can be treated, improved, or even avoided. Countless spas and wellness centres offer the highest levels of pleasure and relaxation.
Most Austrian health resorts also function as recognized tourism centres with wide-ranging sport and leisure facilities.
