Schagerl trumpets success in Sydney Jazz legend James Morrison blows the House down

20 October 2010

In July this year, as part of the 35th International Trumpet Guild Conference, Australia’s premier jazz musician and versatile multi-instrumentalist, James Morrison, performed in the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and also a small – but noteworthy – piece of Austrian expertise.

When he visited the company Musikhaus Schagerl in Lower Austria at the end of 2009, Morrison was so impressed by what he found that he ended his collaboration with another major manufacturer to work with Schagerl’s brass instruments.

In the Opera House, Morrison made a point of introducing his Austrian-made Schagerl trumpet and welcoming the company’s owner, Karl Schagerl, and his team to the sell-out crowd.

Schagerl’s Meister range of instruments is handmade by master craftsmen in the company’s workshops and can be customised to individual requirements, while the Academica series offers intermediate to professional models. Schagerl has already released a “Morrison” range, which includes three trumpets, a trombone and bass trumpet, with another trombone and flugelhorn on the way.

Musiclink Orchestral Supplies has been Schagerl’s distribution partner for Australia since July.
