International House Sydney: Australia’s First Timber Office Built with Stora Enso CLT

20 June 2017

Providing a beautiful entrance to the Barangaroo South precinct, the International House Sydney is one of Sydney’s major timber flagship projects built entirely out of CLT and glulam. Designed by architects Tzannes and built by Lendlease, the six storey office includes over 2000m³ of CLT sourced from sustainably managed forests in Austria, prefabricated by Stora Enso in Austria and assembled on-site.

The International House Sydney features use of engineered timber and CLT for floors, columns, roof, lift shafts, stairs and bracing bays for the six floors above ground level. Ground level consists of a conventional concrete structure which houses retail.

The project demonstrates rapid construction times as construction of the building started in April 2016 and was handed over for internal fit-outs in May this year. With five distribution centers in the main capital cities in Australia, Stora Enso ensures smooth deliveries to its projects.
