High Interest shown for Austrian Seminars on Timber Construction in Melbourne & Sydney, May 1 & 3 2017

28 May 2017

Austria is an international market leader when it comes to modern timber construction of tall buildings, and is the producer of 70-80% of the world’s CLT. Sustainable forest management is key to Austrian forestry, and it is prohibited to harvest more than is regrown. Proudly we introduced our Austrian speakers from Hasslacher Norica Timber , KLH Massivholz , Stora Enso and timber connector specialist Sihga to a select Australian audience in both Melbourne and Sydney this week.

Key flagship projects including the Library at the Dock and the Forte building in Melbourne, and the International House Sydney at Sydney’s Barangaroo, have been built with engineered timber products and knowledge from these Austrian companies.

The attractiveness of these buildings as well as the advantages of timber construction in contrast to conventional building methods, are becoming more clear amongst professionals in the Australian building industry to which we were proud to contribute.

The guided tours through the Library at the Dock, provided by David Tweedie of Hayball Architects and Ian Winter from the City of Melbourne complemented the program. In Sydney the tour to the International House Sydney was provided by Jeremy Tompson of Lendlease and Jonathan Evans of Tzannes.

We would like to thank the audience for their interest and active participation in the seminars. For any further questions or to get in touch with the speakers directly, please contact Marjolein Coonen
