Austria's multinational companies come top in Europe
Employment figures and revenue growth of Austrian companies with foreign branches are higher than the European average.
In European comparisons, Austria's multinational companies - those with at least one branch abroad - appear in the premier league. This is the result of a study from the Austrian Institute of Economic Research WIFO (under the framework of theResearch Centre International Economics FIW ), in which the characteristics and determiners of staff and revenue growth were examined for over 20,000 European multinationals - of which 400 were Austrian companies - for the period 2000-2004.
The Austrian companies employ an average of 115 staff (European average: 81 staff) and, during the period under review, their revenues increased by 4.3% per year (European average: +3.8%).
