Energy Globe Award 2009 – the countdown begins
The Energy Globe Award, the world’s most important environmental prize, will be held for the tenth time this year – the registration deadline is 15th June 2009.
In 1999, Upper Austrian Wolfgang Neumann brought the "World ENERGY GLOBE Award for Sustainability" to life. Today this award is among the world’s most important and acclaimed environmental prizes. The award goes to projects from all over the world that use resources efficiently and sustainably as well as and those that use renewable energies.
The aim is to present successful, sustainable projects to a broader public. Around 800 companies and initiatives compete for the award every year in the following categories:
The ENERGY GLOBE is awarded ever year in a major television gala watched by three billion households worldwide. In the past, the gala has been held in Japan, Canada and the plenary hall of the European Parliament in Brussels. Speakers have included Mikhail Gorbachev, "Columbo" Peter Falk, Robin Gibb, Martin Sheen and Nigel Kennedy. The closing date for registrations for ENERGY GLOBE 2009 is 15th June 2009.
