ISWA Study Tour and Seminar "Waste-to-Energy" in Austria
The great success of the 2011 study tour has led the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) in cooperation with UV&P to organise another "Waste-to-Energy" study tour in Austria this year. Numerous workshops will give experts the opportunity to discuss key issues in the waste management industry. In addition, as part of this practice-oriented event, there will be visits to 10 Waste-to-Energy plants in Vienna, Lower Austria and Upper Austria, giving participants the chance to see the best methods/processes/technologies currently available today.

The practice seminar on Sustainable Waste Management will provide advanced knowledge and the experience gained in waste management field to an international audience of existing and emerging solid waste experts. In particular, the participants will have a chance to hear from leading senior experts from waste management, environmental policy, and engineering. The focus of the ISWA Study Tour "Waste-To-Energy" is on sustainable waste recycling, recovery, treatment, and intermediate storage of different types of waste. Technical tours to waste treatment facilities representing Best Available Techniques will give participants the chance to learn about the latest technological advancement in Austrian waste treatment plants. The focus is on control and acceptance of hazardous waste treatment and waste incineration plants (typical “lulu” projects - locally unwanted land use and “NIMBY” – not in my backyard). Participants will receive a certificate for participation in the ISWA Study Tour and Practice Seminar “Waste to Energy“.
The registration fee includes accommodation in Vienna (2 nights in a hotel near the city centre) and in the seminar hotel at Lake Attersee (3 nights). The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 25 persons.The deadline for registering is 10th September 2012, with an early bird discount for those who book by 31st July 2012.
