FIDE XXIII Congress 28th to 31st May 2008 in Linz 18. February 2008

FIDE – International Federation for European Law (Fédération Internationale pour le Droit Européen) – is an umbrella organisation in which the national Associations for European Law in the EU countries are regular, those in the candidate countries associated members. This year the FIDE Congress will be held in Austria for the first time.

 

The bi-annual FIDE Congresses are a forum for the discussion of current legal issues of EU and EC law. The Congress will be held in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, in accordance with the European Court of Justice, from 28 to 31 May 2008. The Congress is arranged by the Johannes Kepler University of Linz together with the Austrian Association for European Law. The three general topics of the congress are:

  • Preparing the European Union for the Future?-Necessary Revisions of Primary Law after the non-ratification of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe
  • The Modernisation of the European Competition Law
  • The new Services Directive of the European Union –Hopes and Expectations from the Angle of a (Further) Completion of the Internal Market
