Tyrolean farmers have been supplying their milk to the dairy processing company
Tirol Milch
, which is organised as a cooperative and majority-owned by the farmers themselves, for more than a century. Founded in 1904 with the name “Tyrolean Central Dairy, Innsbruck”, the company now known as “Tirol Milch” managed to increase revenues by 5% last year to EUR 154 million. Exports were a key factor in this rise - 34% of production was exported.
Every year around 220 million litres of fresh milk is processed into 250 different dairy products at three sites. The generous product range includes classic unskimmed milk, natural and fruit-flavoured yoghurts, curd cheese and perhaps the most famous Austrian fruity milk drink, Lattella. Furthermore, the company has also developed into an acclaimed specialist in cheese.
