Market study tour Scandinavia (organic) food from Austria   8. May 2008

Austria has the worldwide highest percentage of farmers pursuing organic farming – approx. 13 percent of the usable agricultural area of Austria is farmed by roughly 20.100 “eco-farmers” (11,6 percent of the total number of farms in Austria )

Late April a very motivated group of Austrian food producers went for a market study tour arranged by our offices in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Their aim was to gather more information about the Scandinavian food market – in particular the market for organic products - and to meet Scandinavian importers and food store chains in order to discuss export chances for their products.

In Scandinavia, Austrian food exporters have so far only been sporadically active, but recently show a rising interest in expanding their activities to Sweden, Denmark and Norway. 

Shortlist of products for you inspiration: cheese classic and organic, pesto from pumpkin seeds, pumpkin oil, pumpkin seed mixtures, vinegar, mushrooms fresh and frozen, various frozen bread sorts, fresh and frozen meat plus ready to eat products - traditional as well as organic.
