Schlumberger has taken over the Hochriegl sparkling wine brand from competitor Kattus. Kattus will concentrate on producing frizzante.

The listed company Schlumberger AG has taken over the bubbly brand Hochriegl along with all production facilities from its competitor, Johann Kattus GmbH (in German) . With this, the number two on the Austrian sparkling wine market has acquired the number three. With exports accounting for 26%, one in four bottles from Schlumberger ends up abroad. Important consumers include Germany, Poland, Hungary and Russia.

Both Schlumberger and Kattus are Viennese companies with a long tradition dating back around 150 years. After the sale of the Hochriegl sparkling wine brand, Kattus is focusing on its various frizzante creations. Last year Kattus generated revenues of EUR 23 million, while Schlumberger’s turnover was EUR 209 million.
