Vienna once again ranked as the city with the highest quality of life

The results of the annual international comparison of cities produced by consultancy company Mercer are in: once again Vienna tops the ranking in 2010 as the city with the best quality of life worldwide.

The Austrian capital has managed to retain its top position and was once again named the best city in the international rankings, ahead of Zurich and Geneva in 2010. Spots four to ten are the same as last year, namely, Vancouver, Auckland, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Bern and Sydney. Also unchanged: Baghdad remains the city with the lowest quality of life.

A total of 221 international cities were compared and evaluated in terms of 39 different criteria for the study. Keys aspects included political, social, economic and environmental issues as well as personal safety, health, education and transport.
