28. July 2011

From Friday 29th July 2011 up to and including Saturday 3rd September 2011 there will be an additional driving ban on HGVs over 7.5 tonnes for the Karawanken Tunnel (A11) - from Friday 22:00 to Saturday 15:00 (start of general weekend driving ban). Buses will remain unaffected.

Traffic jams, bottlenecks and the related traffic control measures in the Karawanken Tunnel (A11) were behind the decision to extend the existing weekend driving ban for HGVs for the duration of the main travel period in summer.

The extended HGV ban for freight vehicles over 7.5 tonnes comes into effect on Friday 29th July 2011 from 22:00 and will remain in place up to and including Saturday 3rd September 2011. This driving ban does not affect buses.

The extended hours of this driving ban in the Karawanken Tunnel (A11) specifically apply to HGVs or articulated lorries with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of over 7.5t; the ban also applies to HGVs with trailers where the total GVW of both vehicles is over 7.5t.
