Austria as the "land of start-ups"

17. July 2015

A new set of measures intends to nurture entrepreneurship. In addition to crowdfunding, this should also see a greater emphasis on private equity and venture capital.

Austria intends to establish an even stronger start-up scene. A report published by the Austrian Ministry of Economics lists 40 measures which should promote the entrepreneurial spirit in Austria, including establishing crowdfunding as an alternative source of financing. Freshly founded start-ups in particular are therefore hoping for capital.

There is no shortage of risk capital in Austria at present, as Austria has become one of Europe's leading start-up hotspots. A lot of funding is flowing into new companies, although there is a need to catch up on subsequent financing from Austria and abroad.

The Ministry of Economics together with the investment agency ABA - Invest in Austria has produced a video in order to make international investors more aware of the booming Austrian start-up scene:

The national investment promotion company ABA - Invest in Austria offers information free-of-charge to companies in selecting a location, questions related to labour and tax laws, as well as helping to find cooperation partners and offering support in dealing with authorities.
