ENERGY GLOBE AWARD 2015 goes to Henning Larsen Architects

15. September 2015

Back-to-Business Reception and Energy Globe Award Ceremony in Copenhagen

The weather was a bit less cozy than expected during our late summer reception. But our weatherproof guests were as cool as always. Highlight was the handover of the National Energy Globe Award 2015 to the world-renowned architectural company Henning Larsen for the winning project "The Adaptable House".

With more than 170 participating countries and over 1400 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is among the world’s most prestigious environmental prizes. This year’s Winner, the “The Adaptable House ”, was designed by Henning Larsen together with GXN. It is a single family home that impresses with flexible and resource-saving design. The house components can be demounted or extended without destruction of existing components. Replaced components can be reused in new networks.

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Copenhagen was proud to present the Energy Globe Award to Partner and Manager of Henning Larsen’s Sustainability Department Signe Kongebro at its Back-to-Business Reception in September.

The Energy Globe Jury hails the Adaptable House as “a prototype for building in the twenty-first century.” In their evaluation, the house is highlighted for its extraordinarily long lifespan of up to 120 years, thereby ensuring carbon savings equivalent to building nearly three new houses. Furthermore, it consumes 36% less energy in operation than a standard house.
