Austrian wines with nerve, life and sense of place

14. March 2011

Gut Oggau features a tight selection of authentic, typical regional wines. All wines are distinctive personalities who form a unique wine family.

On Monday 7th of March Stephanie and Eduard from Gut Oggau stopped by for a personal wine tasting at Wineshop & Bar Ved Stranden 10 in Copenhagen. Austrian wines with nerve, life and sense of place were presented to a keen audience of wine enthusiasts. Thanks to the biodynamic winemaking process and the focus on the essential, the Gut Oggau features a tight selection of authentic, typical regional wines. Each of these wines has its own personality and is closely related to the other wine characters. The wine family tree represents three generations: children, parents and grandparents. The children’s generation presents the lightest wines. You´ll find substantial wines in the parent’s generation. Two wines – the grandparents Mechthild and Bertholdi - are vinificated by hand in an old wooden press. The vineyard aims at achieving a natural wine balance and the grapes are treated as gently as possible to make best use of the vineyards’ strength. Hereby the wines can mature peacefully in the wine cellar.

The Gut Oggau wine family has been chosen to represent modern and innovative bottle design at the exhibition How Wine became modern: Design and Wine 1976 to now in the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco from 20.11.2010 until 17.04.2011.

The Gut Oggau vineyard is a member of the ecological association Demeter.

The wines are available at Österreich vin and Ved Stranden 10 .
