New Railway Line Copenhagen-Ringsted

13. March 2012

Invitation to tender for Austrian company Alpine Bau GmbH

Banedanmark will construct a new dual track electrified railway from Copenhagen to Ringsted via Køge. The track will be designed to handle speed of up to 250 km/h for passenger trains and will be Denmark's first railway for high speed trains. The total construction budget is approximately EUR 1,4 Billion.
In March 2012 Banedanmark announced that the tenders will be divided into two parts: the construction part and the technical part with rails and signals. The construction works have been split into packages of a value of EUR 30-200 MIO. In this way also the Danish construction companies, that in an international context are relatively small, will have a chance to present their bid. At the same time the packages are still of a size that is attractive for international constructors. ” We need as much competition as possible. The Danish market is not big enough to handle a project of this scale. Therefore we already now send a signal to the large foreign contractors to take part in the bidding.” says Jesper Hansen, managing director of Banedanmark.

6 construction companies have been invited to tender for the first bridge building works. The only foreign company that received an invitation from Banedanmark was the Austrian Alpine Bau GmbH. The companies have received the tender material and Banedanmarks expects to sign a contract with one of the 6 companies already in June 2012.

The 56 km long dual track will be led through 4 tunnels and over/under 88 bridges and is expected to be finished in 2018. You can find more information about Denmark‘s fastest railway trail here and about Alpine Bau GmbH here .
