University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra in Vienna 2012

The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra has been officially invited as the first Danish representation ever to participate at the prestigious Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna in July 2012.

The concerts will be performed at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna and at the University of Southern Denmark.

The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra is the first - and so far only - Danish symphony orchestra ever, which is affiliated to a university. The connection was established in 2002 by its
current conductor Saul Zaks, who also is conductor of The University of Southern Denmark Chamber Choir.

The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra consists of 60 university students, as well as talented young musicians from the area of Southern Denmark. Over the years the orchestra has participated in concerts, radio broadcasts and recordings in Europe and South America. Its diverse repertoire ranges far, from Scandinavian music to works of new tango-style. The orchestra has been declared as an ensemble with "International experience, class and repertoire."

The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra is approching Austrian and Danish sponsors in order to help the orchestra to implement the participation (transportation and accommodation) at the event in Vienna.
