Salzburg trains run across the whole of Europe 1. October 2007

Model railway manufacturer from Salzburg - Roco - produce 80% of their railways for export; most are for the German market, but there is also growing demand from the new EU members from Eastern Europe.  

After a restructuring phase, business is again booming for Salzburg model railway manufacturer Roco. The Modelleisenbahn GmbH has set a sales target of EUR 34 million for 2007 - 2006 sales were EUR 30.8 million. 80% of the model railways are exported. Germany is the most important export market, but there have been particularly positive developments by the new Eastern European EU members. The company is based in Bergheim near Salzburg and has subsidiaries in Gloggnitz (Lower Austria), Slovakia and Romania. The total workforce is 560, 250 of which are employed in Austria.
