Alpenmilch Salzburg, the fifth largest dairy in Austria, has achieved its main target for the last fiscal year, a turnover of more than € 100 million. The company actually generated € 105.1 million. The increase in turnover by 8.5% year-on-year is due to the rise in revenues from export markets.
The main export markets are Germany and Italy. The most popular products in both countries are organic. The largest rises in exports were to Eastern Europe, where an increase of 12% was achieved. 2,644 farmers - of which 761 are organic – supply a total of 152 million kg of milk per year to Alpenmilch Salzburg. The share of organic milk rose by 12% to 35.2 million kg, therefore the organic milk share now accounts for 23% of total milk production.
