1846, the year that company founder Josef Recheis was born, is when the success story of the family-run company
Recheis
from Hall (Tyrol) began. Recheis founded the “first pasta manufacturer in Austria” in 1889 and then in 1917 the company was honoured by becoming an imperial K&K supplier. Today two production sites with 100 staff produce up to 110 tonnes of pasta a day (spaghetti, fleckerl (similar to farfalle) and gomiti). Since 2004, Recheis also makes fresh pasta products such as tortelloni and Schlutzkrapfen, a traditional Austrian type of ravioli.
In addition to established product ranges like “Goldmarke”, an organic range has recently been introduced (“Bio Goldmarke” and “Bewusst mit Genuss”). Only certified, free-range, organic eggs and organically-farmed durum wheat are used in these ranges.
Revenues of EUR 25 m were generated in 2007 and are expected to reach EUR 30 m in 2008. Recheis holds 35% market share in Austria. 10% of production is exported and this share is on the rise.
