Kremstaler home-made cookies were high in demand on the annual EU Christmas bazar held at Nile Hilton Hotel on December 8, 2007.  Mr. Anton Rettenbacher, the Commercial Attaché at Cairo, had asked his home town Micheldorf and neighbouring towns to bake Christmas cookies to support social projects in Egypt .

More than 160 kilos of all kinds of Christmas cookies donated by the people of the Kremstal together with Austrian specialties and donations in kind of Austrian companies were offered at the stand of the Austrian Embassy in Cairo during the EU Christmas bazar held on December 8. The proceeds are given as donations to social projects in Egypt.

Mr. Anton Rettenbacher, the Austrian Commercial Attaché in Cairo , had asked his home town Micheldorf in Austria and neighbouring villages in the Kremstal to bake Christmas cookies as charitable donation. More than 160 kg of home-made cookies were transported to Cairo for free by the international forwarding agent Sobolak and by Austrian Airlines. There they became the hit of the EU Christmas basar held annually at the Nile Hilton Hotel.
Most of the proceeds go to a children's home at Berba in Upper Egypt. 70 children attend the kindergarten, 17 physically and mentally disabled children receive schooling. Other charity projects in Cairo, too, are supported with the proceeds of this event.
