British David Chipperfield Architects have won the international competition to build a new flagship store for Peek & Cloppenburg, the German designer clothes retailer in Vienna. The new store will be located in the very heart of the city, a district protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and shall open its doors in 2010. The new building will have six sales levels and the defining material for the facade will be a Danube Limestone.

Peek & Cloppenburg is a major retail chain of designer clothes with stores in Germany, Austria and several other countries in Central Europe.

David Chipperfield Architects have just won three awards by the Royal Institute of British Architects, e.g. for their America's Cup Building in Valencia.
