Wood Energy wins Ashden Award for Renewable Energy  Exclusive UK importer of Binder biomass boilers from Austria 

Wood Energy Limited has won the Ashden Award for Renewable Energy . Robin Cotton, the managing director met HRH Prince Charles and was presented with the award by leading environmental campaigner, former US Vice President, Mr Al Gore, at a high-profile awards ceremony held at the Royal Geographical Society in London.



Wood Energy is one of the UK’s leading biomass heating businesses, providing over a third of the country’s total wood heat capacity and saving almost 12,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year through its boiler installations.

Wood Energy Ltd is the exclusive UK importer of Austrian company's Binder biomass boilers . Binder is one of the leading suppliers of biomass heating systems in Austria and over 3,000 Binder systems ranging from 15kW to 10MW have been installed worldwide. Projects in the UK include the Eden Project .

The Ashden Awards are recognised as the world’s leading green energy prize and reward and promote local sustainable energy solutions in the UK and abroad. The judges of the awards commented that they were highly impressed by Wood Energy’s combination of a sound business strategy with innovative application of a highly promising technology.

Austria is one of the leading countries in renewable energy production and technologies. At present 22% of primary energy consumption comes from renewable energy sources and Austrian companies have particular expertise in biomass technologies.
