Longest working hours in Austria and the United Kingdom

Full-time employees in Austria and Britain have the longest working week in Europe at 42.4 hours, according to a new report published by the European statistical office, Eurostat.  

In the EU27 in 2006, full-time employees worked an average of 40.5 hours per week. The longest usual working hours were observed in Austria and the United Kingdom (both 42.4 hours per week usually worked), Latvia (42.2), and Slovenia (41.4). The Netherlands (38.9), Belgium (39.0), France (39.1) and Finland (39.2) reigstered the shortest usual working hours for full-time employees. These statistics were published this week as part of Eurostat's annual Labour Force Survey.
