Monsoon expands presence in Austria

24. January 2008

British fashion retailer Monsoon is to consolidate its presence in Austria , following on from the success of its flagship store in Vienna which opened for business in May 2007.

Franchise owner Christian Ganado has confirmed that a second store will open in the city of Graz on 18 February. The new outlet will be situated in Shoppingcity mall in Graz-Seiersberg and will have a retail floorspace of 130m2, part of which will be given over to the group’s fashion accessory brand, Accessorize.

Meanwhile, Monsoon’s 400m2 branch in Vienna is performing extremely well, at times reporting the highest sales level across the entire Monsoon group.

Ganado plans to open a further five stores in Austria this year and a total of 40 over the next six years.

About Monsoon

Monsoon has travelled many miles since its small beginnings in 1973 when Peter Simon opened his first store in Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, London . This small store, spilling over with his beautiful prints and fabrics discovered in faraway places, paved the way for Monsoon's signature style of colour, print, embroidery and attention to detail. Today, the group has 443 stores in 43 countries and a turnover of €721m.
