BT Global Services is expanding its sales activities in Austria with the formation of 'BT Austria GmbH' and the appointment of Michael Frischauf as the new General Manager Corporate Sales for the region.

BT Global Services, BT’s business services and solutions division, has consolidated its presence in Austria with the formation of ‘BT Austria GmbH’ and the appointment of Michael Frischauf as the new General Manager Corporate Sales for Austria.

BT Global Services helps multi-site organisations to master the complexity of business communication. This includes providing desktop and network hardware and software, offering IP-based e-business solutions, managing network services and systems integration, and consulting on strategic issues related to worldwide voice and data communications. BT Global services serves customers located in more than 200 countries on five continents. The company's core target market is the top 10,000 global multi-site organisations with European operations.

BT already has some important clients in Austria. Last year it won a major contract from the Egger Group , one of Europe's leading manufacturers of wood-based materials. BT operates a highly fail-safe, redundant, MPLS-based data network for Egger, connecting 16 sites and five sales offices in nine countries. The contract is to run for five years and has a total value of several million euros.

BT Austria is now aiming to significantly increase its presence in the market by building up a direct sales channel. Talking about his new position, Vienna-born Michael Frischauf said: "BT's existing strong client relationships and customer base represent an excellent starting point in Austria."
