Waagner-Biro Stahlbau responsible for sophisticated 7,000 sqm glass roof construction

Only recently has the Westfield London shopping centre opened its doors. It is the largest city-centre shopping mall in Europe with 300 shops, several restaurants, cinemas and a London Underground station covering a total area of 350,000m².

The Westfield London was designed by Benoy International Architects and its centre is covered by an impressive steel and glass construction with a total area of more than 7,000m². This ambitious roof construction was completed by Waagner-Biro and the complex geometry of the roof required a total of 600t of steel, 1,681 triangular glass panes and 4,900 laser-cut metal struts with a total length of 11,000m.

Waagner-Biro AG is an Austrian company group with its headquarters in Vienna.
