Binder supplies low-carbon heating systems to 6 schools

Wood Energy Ltd, the distributor in the UK for Binder GmbH boiler systems has supplied and installed biomass heating systems to six Newcastle schools as part of the city's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest-ever school buildings initiative. The aim is to rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in England, with the emphasis on building sustainable, modern schools.

In Spring 2008, the RES Group, a leading renewable energy company, was awarded the fuel supply contract for six Newcastle schools within the BSF programme. The biomass boilers were supplied by Wood Energy Ltd , a partner of RES and the UK distributor for Austrian manufacturer Binder GmbH.


Binder produces some of the finest biomass boilers in the world. Austrian Binder boilers are highly efficient and well engineered to provide reliable service for many years.

Binder machines are by far the most prevalent in the UK and have been installed by the Eden Project, the National Assembley for Wales and the National Trust. Binder produces boilers to run on chip and/or pellet in the range 15kW to over 10MW.Wood Energy Ltd have to date installed or are currently installing more than 43,000kW of installed boiler capacity across the UK, corresponding to over 100 installations.
