Britain is Salzburg Airport’s top destination

In 2008 Salzburg airport processed 1,809,601 passengers in total. More than a quarter of the passengers travelled from or to the United Kingdom.

Salzburg Airport maintained its excellent market position in 2008. Only Vienna Airport carried more passengers in Austria. The airport is an important economic factor for the region, because in the winter season alone, more than 40 000 jobs in the province are indirectly dependent on passengers travelling through the airport. The airport also directly employs over 1,400 people.

In 2008 Salzburg airport processed 1,809,601 passengers in total. More than a quarter of the passengers travelled to or from the United Kingdom – making the UK the number one travel destination, followed by Germany. Salzburg handled a total of 21,330 flights in 2008, and this year the airport is investing € 10 million on improving its existing infrastructure.
