2. August 2010

Waldviertler Whisky has won two awards at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London. The IWSC was founded in 1969 and is the premier competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.

Austria's first whiksy distillery, Waldviertler Roggenhof, has won two coveted prizes at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.

Walviertler Roggenhof's 'Single Malt Selection J.H.' was awarded Silver (Best in Class) whilst the 'Special Rye Malt Nougat J.H.' won a Bronze medal in the 'Worldwide Whiskies' category. The prizes will be presented at a special ceremony in London on 17 November 2010.

IWSC medals and trophies are the most prestigious honours awarded in the trade, representing the best of the best in the world of wine and spirits. Entries are judged in award categories divided by variety, region and vintage. Provided the required minimum score is reached gold, silver and bronze awards are given in each tasting category. Products with the highest mark  are awarded "Best in Class" and are retasted for national and international trophies.
