The Annual Tasting of Austrian Wines in London a great success

Advantage Austria London are celebrating another successful Annual Tasting of Austrian Wines. Held at The Institute of Directors in February the event was better attended than ever attracting high profile guests such as national wine journalists Jilly Goolden, Matthew Jukes, Giles MacDonogh and Steven Spurrier.

Top buyers for leading supermarkets were also present including Ken Mackay MW of Waitrose and Ana Sapungiu of Oddbins alongside buyers from fine wine merchants Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols and Jeroboams, and fine wine auctioneers, Christies and Bonham’s.

Sommeliers from top restaurants travelled some distance to taste the new Austrian vintages with sommelier teams present from The Fat Duck, Hakkasan, Maze, La Trompette, Boundary, Pont de la Tour, Yauatcha, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and many more, including new restaurants like Pollen Street Social and Texture.

Gentleman’s clubs and top hotels are the new champions of Austrian wines - the Annual Tasting of Austrian wines 2012 saw wine buyers from Home House, the RAC Club and the Travellers Club tasting enthusiastically alongside sommeliers from the Four Seasons Hotel, the Royal Garden Hotel, Hotel du Vin, Koffman’s and Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley.
