UK Passivhaus Awards 2013 at The Residence of The Austrian Ambassador

Low energy offices, homes and a B&B too!

Organised by the UK Passivhaus Trust and launched in March on the Austrian Pavilion at Ecobuild, the second annual UK Passivhaus Awards were presented last night at the Residence of the Austrian Ambassador in Belgrave Square.

A packed room of leading lights in sustainable building heard presentations from the nine shortlisted projects. The diversity of the projects reflects the growing relevance of Passivhaus in the UK market for both residential and commercial buildings.

Our congratulations to the winners, chosen by vote by members of the UK Passivhaus Trust:

Category: Private Housing
Winner: Totnes Passivhaus, Passivhaus Homes Ltd.
A Passivhaus retrofit, this B&B in Devon is a place to stay and experience Passivhaus first hand. Fitted with Internorm windows and integrated blinds.

Category: Social / Group Housing
Winner: Lancaster Cohousing Project, Eco Arc Architects with Alan Clarke
A cohousing project of 41 Passivhaus homes showing what can be achieved when the homeowners participate in the design process.

Category: Non-Domestic
Winner: Canolfan Hyddgen, JPW Construction
A multiple award winning office building and learning centre in Wales featuring Drexel & Weiss ventilation units and Internorm windows.
