5th Conference of European Regions and Cities (CERC) 13th – 15th September 2009, Salzburg, Austria 11. August 2009

This year, the Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE) invites for the fifth time to the Conference of the European Regions and Cities to Salzburg. The focus will be on how to respond effectively to the economic crisis.

The 5th Conference of European Regions and Cities will be held from 13-15 September 2009 in Salzburg (Austria), focussing on strategies and measures that enable regions and cities to overcome the economic crisis. The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE) has again managed to win over outstanding speakers for this event (see programme ).

Focal points of the conference are:

• the IRE Expert Forum „Survival of SMEs during the Economic Crisis“ and
• the Panel-Discussion „European Regions and Cities and the Economic Crisis“.

In four working groups staffed with high-ranking participants, discussions on the individual issues will be deepened.

The IRE Scientific Symposium on „Regionalisation - Strenghtening or Subversion of the National State" on 15th September will conclude the three-day event.

About 300 participants from all over Europe are expected to come - above all from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.
