Austria, Germany and Italy  are Top Investors in Eastern Europe

One in ten euros of investment from foreign companies in Central and Eastern Europe comes from Austria.

With investments of around EUR 76 billion, Austria, Germany and Italy are the most important investors in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). More than 30% of total foreign capital from investors comes from these three countries. Austria in particular has made the most out of the opportunities generated by the opening up of Eastern Europe - Austrian exports in the CEE region have increased tenfold since the fall of the Iron Curtain. These are the most important results from the latest analysis of Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) . One in ten euros of investment from foreign companies in CEE comes from Austria. Furthermore, Austria, Germany and Italy are responsible for almost 60% of EU-15 imports from the new EU member states.
