Austrian companies offer Belarus to cooperate in waste treatment area

Austrian companies would like to expand the cooperation with Belarusian companies in waste treatment, Alexander Rachevsky, the head of the international cooperation department of the Belarus Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection, told BelTA.

A session of the Belarusian-Austrian working group for environment protection and environmental protection technologies has discussed the prospects of the new joint projects in this area. The session was held in Minsk on November 25.

The Austrian businessmen would like to participate in setting up the new production facilities to process wastes and to increase supplies to Belarusian waste treatment plants. Some of the Austrian technologies have been already utilized by Belarusian companies. For instance, one of the Mogilev companies uses an Austrian technology for plastic waste treatment.

The Austrian companies would like to strengthen the cooperation in alternative energy as well. Belarus has already used Austrian technologies for construction of biogas plants.

Representatives of 14 Austrian companies, Belarusian officials and representatives of Belarusian companies took part in the session of the Belarusian-Austrian working group for environment protection and environmental protection technologies. The participants of the gathering considered the further cooperation in alternative energy, waste treatment, rational use of natural resources, discussed the partnership within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol.
