Belarus and Austria have agreed the number of permits for international trucking companies for 2009. It was noted at a session of the Belarusian-Austrian commission for international automobile transportation in Vienna , BelTA learnt from Ivan Mankevich, Deputy Director General of the Association of International Road Carriers of Belarus BAMAP.

In his words, the parties pointed out the growing trade turnover between Belarus and Austria . The fact creates conditions for successful development of automobile transportation between the two countries. In view of the fact Belarus made a request for increasing the number of permits for 2008 and the quota on permits for 2009.

The official explained, Austria , Hungary and Germany require international trucking companies to use automobiles with more advanced ecological standards. Vehicles, which meet different ecological requirements, are entitled to different quotas on permits. As a result, the necessary increase in permits was agreed, provided the number of permits for vehicles with Euro-2, Euro-3 and standards beyond them will be increased while the number of permits for Euro-1 vehicles will be substantially reduced. No permits will be issued for Euro-0 vehicles in 2009.

During the session Belarus made a request to increase the Schengen visa duration up to 1 year and the number of days Belarusian drivers can stay in Austria up to 180. Apart from that, the organisation of combined transportation involving railroad for transporting road trains and drivers in transit via Austria was presented. Austria informed Belarus about the planned change of road toll payment terms taking into account the introduction of road tolls depending on the ecological class of vehicles in 2009-2010.
